LES PLESKO, 1954-2013
Novelist, teacher and friend, Les Plesko took his life on September 16, 2013 at age 59. Born in Budapest, Les settled in Los Angeles’ Venice Beach where he wrote the novels The Last Bongo Sunset, Slow Lie Detector, and Who I Was. A longtime professor in the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program and veteran of the Kate Braverman writing workshop of the early ’90s, Les imparted tremendous passion and wisdom to his students and colleagues. This site is an ongoing collection of his lessons–a place to remember for those whom he inspired, and a gift for those to whom he did not have the opportunity.
